Nana's Green Tea

Food Style - Japanese

Matcha Shiratama Parfait ($11.80)
Whenever I am at Plaza Singapura, I never fail to visit Nana's Green Tea for my daily dessert fix as they offer the most delicious green tea parfait around the island. Till this day, I am still a loyal fan of the Matcha Shiratama Parfait - an artisan dessert starting with a layer of kanten jelly and matcha syrup then topped with soft serve vanilla ice cream, generous layer of corn flakes and garnished with a matcha ice cream, red bean paste, mochi, whipped cream and a drizzle of matcha syrup. The matcha ice cream is so smooth and creamy, the texture of the mochi is done to perfection, and corn flakes with ice cream can never go wrong! Personally, I tend to share the parfait as it gets pretty filling especially as an after meal dessert. The cafe is also a great place to catch up with your friends or even to meet clients at as the tables have ample space between each other, and a light colored wooden divider. The environment is conducive for a quiet chat without you having to shout at one another over the table. This is definitely a cafe which I will continue to patronize.

Ambush - Fast Casual European Dining

Food Styles - French, German, Italian and Spanish/Basque

Having been a fan of Ambush for many years, I have frequented the outlet at the Takashimaya food hall. This was my first visit to the outlet at Plaza Singapura, it most definitely did not disappoint.

Starting off with the appetizer, my friend and I ordered a Mini Sausage Platter which consisted of grilled mini pork cheese and french garlic sausages served with mustard and brown sauce. I loved how the sausages looked so plump and juicy, so ready to be eaten! The mustard went really well with the sausages, and serving size was just right for the two of us.

Mini Sausage Platter ($10.80)                                                                                 Grilled Mini Pork Cheese and French Garlic Sausages Served with Mustard and Brown Sauce

As for the second item, we had to try the highly raved about mussels. However, my friend does not have a liking for mussels and prefers clams hence we decided on the best of both worlds, the Mixed Pot - black mussels & white clams cooked in vin blanc and smoked streaky bacon (white wine, onion, garlic, bacon and parsley). It was absolutely delicious! Personally, I preferred the black mussels as they were fat and succulent, and the vin blanc was incredibly tasty. Bacon bits are just genius!

Mixed Pot ($19.50) - Black Mussels & White Clams cooked in Vin Blanc and Smoked Streaky Bacon
Last but not least, we ordered the Baby Scallop in Squid Ink Sauce Pasta. We had no regrets, best decision ever. I have tried squid ink pastas at many other restaurants but now I can safely call Ambush my home for squid ink pasta. None can hold a torch to this. It was flavorful, and the pasta was not dry like how most places have it, you can even see it glisten. The baby scallop was cooked just right and the fish roe added a lovely touch of color to the darkness.

Baby Scallop - Squid Ink Sauce Pasta ($16.20)
Overall it was an exciting adventure for our palate, every dish we ordered was fantastic. Great service provided as well. I will definitely return for more!

Total Spent: $54.40 ($27.20/pax)

Kraft Handi-Snack Ritz Crackers 'n Cheese Dip

Kraft Handi-Snacks Ritz Crackers 'n Cheez

For those who grew up in the '90s, this would be a familiar break snack which we looked forward to whipping out from our bags once the recess bell chimes in our ears. As kids we loved everything that was hands on, and not only did this snack feel like arts and craft, the most amazing part of it was that the final product was edible! All we had to do was to use the little flat red plastic to spread the awesomeness (cheese) onto the crackers and devour them! In addition to that it helped our little minds to do division as we had to ensure that we portioned the cheese equally to sufficiently cover every piece of cracker available. Frankly, there was never enough cheese. It's safe to say that it was one of the snacks which molded our generation into cheese lovers. Unfortunately after some time, this snack has been taken off supermarket shelves and can no longer be found anywhere in Singapore. If anyone could explain the rationale as to why such a delicious and fun snack has been taken off the shelves, I would love to provide a listening ear. Recently, I have been feeling nostalgic for some ritz crackers 'n cheese dip, however shipping it from abroad is too costly. Should any of you foodies out there have brilliant ideas on how to acquire some ritz crackers 'n cheese dip please share the foodbrain!
